Why Mainspring

Considered care at every stage

Hands-On Assessment

We look at every watch in person before quoting. No estimates from descriptions alone — the piece tells us what it needs.

Written Condition Notes

Every inspection produces a written summary. You leave knowing the state of your watch, regardless of whether further work follows.

Originality Respected

We do not over-restore. Aged surfaces and honest wear are part of a vintage watch's character, and we work to keep that intact.

Photographic Records

Restoration work is documented with photographs before, during, and after — a useful record for owners and future reference.

Unhurried Conversations

We take time to understand your attachment to the piece. Work proceeds at a pace that suits you, not a queue schedule.

Clear, Upfront Pricing

Costs are discussed and agreed before work begins. Prices in Thai Baht, with no surprise additions on collection.

Take the First Step

Your watch has a story worth keeping.

Whether you know exactly what it needs or you're simply curious about its condition, bring it in. We'll take a proper look and talk you through the options — no pressure, no obligation.

Common Questions

Things people ask

Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?
Walk-ins are welcome during opening hours, though an appointment helps us set aside proper time for your visit. For restoration consultations, booking ahead is appreciated so we can give the conversation the space it deserves.
How long does restoration work typically take?
Timelines vary by the scope of work and the condition of the piece on arrival. A Cleaning & Inspection Visit can often be completed within a few days. Dial and hands work and full case restorations are discussed individually at intake — we would rather take the time the work needs than rush it.
What if my watch needs work beyond the initial scope?
If we find anything during work that was not part of the original discussion, we pause and contact you before proceeding. Nothing additional happens without your agreement. The inspection visit is designed precisely for this — to surface what a watch needs before committing to a larger project.
Do you work on all watch brands and movements?
We focus on vintage and heritage pieces where careful case and dial work is the primary need. We handle Swiss, Japanese, and various other mechanical and automatic movements. If your watch falls outside our scope, we will tell you honestly at inspection rather than taking it on with reservations.
Are prices quoted in Thai Baht?
Yes, all pricing is in Thai Baht (฿). The figures shown on this site are starting points; the final quote for your specific watch is confirmed after in-person assessment. We do not add costs after agreeing a price with you.
How is my watch kept secure while in your care?
Each piece in our care is logged with a reference number and stored in a locked cabinet when not being actively worked on. We carry workshop insurance and treat every watch with the same attention we would give our own.
